Midwest Bank is excited to announce the opening of another school bank branch in Pierce, Nebraska. The Wildcat Branch will open this January at Zion Lutheran School. The in-school savings program, a partnership with the Nebraska Council of Economic Education, encourages students to develop healthy financial habits. The Midwest Bank Pierce Branch opened a school bank branch at Pierce Elementary back in October 2025.
Students make weekly savings deposits at their school’s bank branch, and the accounts are managed by Midwest Bank staff and the school. Instead of interest, the students earn incentives in the form of prizes based on the number of deposits they make throughout the school year.
“We’re thrilled to launch the Wildcat Branch at Zion Lutheran School. Teaching kids the value of saving from a young age helps them develop smart financial habits in the future. Our goal is to help them build a strong understanding of saving now, so they’re better set up to achieve their financial dreams in the future,” said Taylor Oltjenbruns, Midwest Bank Market President in Pierce.
The Wildcat Branch will hold a grand opening on Tuesday, January 13th, 2026, with the Pierce Chamber of Commerce hosting a ribbon-cutting at the event. The public is welcome to attend. The Wildcat Branch will be open to students on Tuesdays from 7:30 am to 7:55 am through the end of April.
