Monday, August 4th, 2025 (Pierce, Nebraska)—Midwest Bank is excited to announce that a new branch is coming to Pierce, Nebraska. The Bluejay Branch will open this fall at Pierce Elementary School. The in-school savings program, a partnership with the Nebraska Council of Economic Education, encourages students to develop healthy financial habits.
Students make weekly savings deposits at their school’s bank branch, and the accounts are managed by Midwest Bank staff and the school. Instead of interest, the students earn incentives in the form of prizes based on the number of deposits they make throughout the school year.
“We’re excited to open the Bluejay Branch at Pierce Elementary this year. It’s important for kids to start learning early how important it is to save money. We’re hoping the kids gain a basic understanding of saving money to help them reach their financial goals later on in life,” said Taylor Oltjenbruns, Midwest Bank Market President in Pierce.
The Bluejay Branch will hold a grand opening on Wednesday, October 1st, 2025, with the Pierce Chamber of Commerce hosting a ribbon cutting at the event. The public is welcome to attend. The Bluejay Branch will be open to students on Wednesdays from 7:30 am to 8:00 am through the end of April.
