Midwest Bank is excited to announce that a new branch is coming to Deshler, Nebraska. The Dragon Branch will open this fall at Deshler Elementary School. The in-school savings program, a partnership with the Nebraska Council of Economic Education, encourages students to develop healthy financial habits.
Students make weekly savings deposits at their school’s bank branch, and the accounts are managed by Midwest Bank staff and the school. Instead of interest, the students earn incentives in the form of prizes based on the number of deposits they make throughout the school year.
“We’re thrilled to launch the Dragon Branch at Deshler Elementary this year. Teaching kids the value of saving from a young age helps them develop smart financial habits in the future. Our goal is to help them build a strong understanding of saving now, so they’re better set up to achieve their financial dreams in the future,” said Rebecca Stengel, Midwest Bank Market President in Deshler.
The Dragon Branch will be open to students on Tuesdays from 7:30 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. starting in October and continuing through the end of April.
