Meet John at Midwest Bank. John has been with the bank for one year as a Vice President/Loan Officer at our Lincoln branch. He grew up mainly in Nebraska but lived in Connecticut, Virginia, and Iowa. John attended Nebraska Wesleyan University for his undergraduate and the University of Nebraska–Lincoln for graduate school.

Before coming to Midwest Bank, he was in a variety of lending roles in commercial banking and private wealth management for 20 years. He started out as a credit analyst and continued to work his way up with the support of others. He says, “I was trained by great mentors, who invested the time to take me on customer visits and showed me their approaches to help business owners.”

In his current role with Midwest Bank, John enjoys getting to help business owners and real estate investors accomplish their goals. When asked what the best part about working at Midwest Bank is, John replied “The culture here is great. And our ability to respond quickly to loan requests to help customers sets us apart.” John knows there is value in businesses working with community banks that can make local decisions.

A community bank’s niche is to serve locally owned small-to-medium sized businesses. We also serve individuals who want a more personable and casual banking experience while still having access to services that save time and help manage fraud risk.

John explains why community banks are better for customers. “A community bank’s niche is to serve locally owned small-to-medium sized businesses. We also serve individuals who want a more personable and casual banking experience while still having access to services that save time and help manage fraud risk.” Community banks have that small-town feel but offer the same modern technology as bigger banks.

John has been married to his wife for 21 years and they have two children. They also have a Golden-Doodle dog. John loves watching Sci-Fi disaster movies and his hobbies include ice hockey, golf, fishing, and bicycling. He also enjoys traveling, his favorite destination to visit is St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.

When asked to share his favorite memory at Midwest Bank from the past year, he said “Definitely hosting our client appreciation event here in Lincoln. We served lunch and I got to visit with everyone”.

When asked to describe Midwest Bank in three words, John said “Integrity. Community. Culture”.
